Laser Safety

The laser is divided into different types according to the wavelength, because the laser of different wavelength has different influence to the human tissues and organs. So in each type of laser according to its power output size and damage to the human body is divided into the following four.

Laser safety classification must be confirmed using the report and instructions for the specific model. Do not look directly into the beam. Follow the risk assessment and required protective measures. Do not direct the beam toward the eyes.

The second class: low power laser. Do not deliberately look into the beam even at low output power, but can not be a long time to look directly at the laser beam because retinal cells will be damaged by photons. But the laser does not have heat damage to the skin of the human body. I don’t recommend you to watch this class laser with a scope mirror, as well avoid the laser reflect into your eyes directly.

The third class: medium power laser. When this output power of the laser is focused, it will cause damage to the eye if you look directly, but when it change into none focusing, diffuse laser is generally not dangerous, this kind of laser has no heat damage to the skin. Don’t try to look this even the remaining light, if you have to do so, you may need your protection glasses.

The fourth class: high power lasers, such laser not only the direct beam and mirror reflective beam, eyes and skin will get damage seriously, and the diffuse light may also cause damage to the human eyes. Don’t try to look this even the remaining light, if you have to do so, you may need your protection glasses.

So what is the class of laser we made for stage projector device?

Take Supercan for example. All our medium power laser production is almost base on Class 3.

The over 10W green laser projector(outdoor version) and the over 15W multi color laser projector could be reached to Class 4.

But in a seriously saying, the class 4 laser projectors we made just qualify on list, it has not same damage as the statement above.That we choose the laser module all use the collimation laser design but not focusing design, the harmful radius the far lesser than 1,000m, and the collimation laser module is seeing light and it rarely has its focus spot, that even the diffusion laser light has no damage to human body.

But one rule has to obey that don’t let a no training man who is going to output a high power laser, this is prohibited by the law of the European Union.

However, in mainlandChina, there is no law about this yet, but for the safety to the public; the laser division and user should follow it. For why our company has no accident on this for decades, that we always train every customers how to use it for a week at least.
